My time is now, no running



From my beside I watch them snatch
They fight to tear me apart
My insticnts always guide my thinking
They know I will prevail

They know all that is needed is opportunity
No one is born a fighter
They know I will prevail



My body fails in consistency
Eyes swollen with sleep
My legs and neck weak
They know I will prevail



My pillar smiles at my sight
Hoping that I change their life
My spirit keeps my dreams alive
They know I will prevail

Balancing between studies and social life in Universities

Photo./Courtesy By now most Kenyans who sat KCSE last year already if they are proceeding to the University, Tertiary college or seeking alternatives in other areas depending on grades. For those joining colleges and universities, there's a whole new life ahead. There's the registration, getting used to big buildings, especially if one is from rural areas, and making new friends. The harder part is settling down and balancing between school work and the “free” social life. Presented with this freedom, it can be very overwhelming; especially if you lack self-discipline. Had someone come to me at the beginning of my first year and imparted to me this knowledge, he or she could have saved me a lot of time, headache and guilt over how I spent my days in campus. One year later, Jubilee on the right track? Today marks the first anniversary of the Jubilee government tenure in office since the repeat polls in October 26, 2017. The goverment led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto was elected after the first poll was cancelled by Kenya's Supreme Court citing irregularities, and ordered a new one within 60 days. The election commission had declared incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta the winner by a margin of 1.4 million votes. Raila Odinga, Uhuru's opponent, said the commission was "rotten and demanded their resignation. President Uhuru would later in October clinch the seat with  7,483,895 votes out of the 7,616,217 valid votes cast. The Opposition however did not take part in the repeat poll as NASA supporters barred IEBC officials from delivering voting material and engaged police in running battles.
