Image
Kelvin-Prince Boateng.Photo/Courtesy Ghana’s midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has kicked back at his native football association after being suspended and kicked out of the team with his teammate Sulley Muntari just before Ghana’s match with Portugal which they lost. Boateng called the treatment he got even before the match as ‘amateurish’ saying that some of the agreements the Ghana football Association had made were not met before and during the World Cup. Boateng was suspended after he was accus ed of making “vulgar verbal insults” towards Coach James Appiah. “The nightmare lasted from the first day of the preparations until the very end,” he said. “I would never have thought that the preparations and the World Cup itself could be so badly organized. The hotels, the flights – everything was amateurish.” He added. Boateng blamed his problems in Brazil on the Ghana National Coach saying it was the coach who persuaded him to play for the national team while he was still

Open Letter to President Kenyatta on need for structured national dialogue

Image
Posted by Opinion Leaders on June 20, 2014 CORD leader Raila Odinga.Photo/Courtesy BY RAILA ODINGA I wish again to convey my sincere condolences to the people of Mpeketoni, Lamu County, over the senseless and brutal killings of many innocent Kenyans and to share with you the grief and sadness over the tragic events that occurred in the county. This occurrence is an unfortunate additional tragedy to the now growing and harrowing statistics of attacks that the Kenyan people have suffered over the last one year. We must stand together as a nation to fight terrorism in all its forms and your Excellency can be assured of my full support in the war against terror. I commend the people of Kenya who have shown unity and resilience and demonstrated courage and patriotism in defence of the motherland. Last year after the Supreme Court heard and determined my petition challenging the presidential elections, I accepted the verdict. I did that as a true beli

After a girl aged 12 gave birth last week, it may be time the government introduces sex education is introduced earlier in school or distributed contraceptive pills to girls in primary school. This is because the current trends show girls are either getting sexually active at very young ages or they fall victim to inhumane acts of rape and molestation when still very young. The Tomato pill that seeks to end Heart-related complications

Image
Tomatoes/Photo courtesy   Heart patients in Kenya may have finally found solace from their heart complications and other cardiovascular diseases. According to the Ministry of Health, Kenya’s age standardized heart diseases is estimated to be 300-350 deaths per 100,000 people, with the number growing every year. "Loss of income resulting from lost productivity or employment due to major disabilities, such as stroke or heart failure," says Aga Khan University's head of cardiology department, Dr Gerald Yonga. In his recent report, CASE KENYA STUDY: NCD SITUATION, Dr Yonga says screening and intervention programmes should be introduced into existing healthcare systems. Scientists have created a ‘tomato pill’ that is bursting with lycopene, the compound credited with many health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. A single Ateronon pill that goes for Sh118 contains as much lycopene, the pigment that gives tomatoes their rich, red colour – as more than 2lb of the

The Somali Life-

In life, ALLAH gives us relatives. We do not choose our relatives but find them. He also gives us the freedom to choose our own friends. My mother taught me this lesson when I was a young boy. I grew knowing the need to choose the right friends. Those who will be with me no matter the circumstance. The kind of friend who will advise me when I go wrong. A friend who will pull me from trouble when what I am doing seems the right thing. Many years down the line, I have made a number of friends, a few who matter and are worth a million. To them, I toast a long life, happiness and progress by the will of ALLAH (swt). My closest friend Farah Abdi often taught me the Islamic religion. We had been friends for more than six years. So I wanted to know more about his religion. He told me Islam meant peace. I was so happy to learn the meaning of the Islamic greeting, “As-salam alaykum” which means Peace be upon you. It was great since it is not just a greeting but a wish. A wish we m

Why ladies are ending up single unwillingly

1. Many Kenyan ladies will end up singles for life because of media exposure- it is so disheartening how a lady will glue her eyes on a mobile phone from morning to night, only to raise it up to focus on television to watch another celebrity entertainment channel. Tell me, what else will dominate this lady’s mindset aside how to live a fake celebrity life being promoted on television channels? 2. Many Kenyan ladies now dislike cooking and home chores just because they had been totally brainwashed by movies showcasing men playing the role of women in a family, and due to excessive exposure to modern media that promotes gender-equality in a destructive way that’s aimed at destroying the unique African family setting that made our previous African marriages everlasting and envious to the westerns. Now, with this attitude, how do you expect a Kenyan man to desire to marry when he knows he is only buying more headache and trouble than helper for himself?  3. Modern fashi

TIPS ON HOW TO STRENGTHEN A RELATIONSHIP

Image
I read something and came up with some few points…Please read. Lovers enjoying sunset.Photo/courtesy 1. Be Friends Any healthy relationship must be based on a solid underlying friendship. Remember to treat your partner with the same kindness, respect, and appreciation as you would a close friend. Support, listen to, and laugh with each other. Don’t allow yourselves to be rude or disrespectful. 2. Stay Connected “Couples need to spend a lot of time with each other,” advises David Kaplan, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation programs at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. “There is no substitute for quantity of time.” Kaplan encourages couples to take a half-day a week to go out on a date. In addition, devote at least 15 minutes of your day to meaningful, one-on-one conversation — no television or kids allowed. 3. Get Physical Physical intimacy is a natural, and healthy, extension of a relationship. Our bes

Why ladies should have big butts, real ones for that matter

Image
A ladies bumm.Photo/courtesy In my late evenings in the office, my boss asked me why we the youths like admiring big bumps in ladies, this had popped up because of some pull-out in one of the dailies where young ladies are going to extremes to enlarge their butts, maybe in the effort of impressing me.This thought has been on my mind since then, why? So, ideally, except looking good, and featuring in music videos while twerking, there are benefits and advantages of having it bigger but naturally not through enhancement drugs, oils and butt implants. According to ABC News, women with more ‘junk in the trunk’ are healthier. Oxford researchers have found that women with body fat in their thighs and booties have “extra protection against diabetes, heart disease and other conditions associated with obesity.” “If you’re going to have fat, you’re definitely better off if you’ve got some fat in the lower body,” said Dr. Michael Jensen, director of endocrine research
