Boateng
called the treatment he got even before the match as ‘amateurish’ saying that
some of the agreements the Ghana football Association had made were not met
before and during the World Cup.
Boateng
was suspended after he was accused of making “vulgar
verbal insults” towards Coach James Appiah.
“The nightmare lasted from the first day of
the preparations until the very end,” he said.
“I would never have thought that the
preparations and the World Cup itself could be so badly organized. The hotels,
the flights – everything was amateurish.” He added.
Boateng blamed his problems in Brazil on
the Ghana National Coach saying it was the coach who persuaded him to play for
the national team while he was still in AC Milan. The Schalke midfielder had
retired from international football after the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
“It was him who kept talking about me as
the leader and who had declared his confidence in me. I have never had a
problem with him and I have always behaved positively. But if somebody asked me
whether he is a good coach i will out rightly say no,” he said.
“I’m just wondering why he begged me to
play for Ghana when I was still at AC Milan but when I came back to play for my
team he said am not playing anymore.”
Boateng denied claims that the team there
was dispute between the players and the association over allowances saying the
players only had issues with things like accommodation and transport.
“Allowances were the smallest problem. But
everything kept stacking up over the whole month. It was catastrophic. The
practice conditions, sleeping conditions, everything. I just wonder where all
the money goes.”
