A screenshot of expenses in the office of a CS.Photo/Courtesy Kenya my nation. I take all chill pills on most issues because I learnt one cannot solve all problems with the two hands that God gave each of us. In the March 2013 elections I remember I woke up at 4am to go and do what is fair and right for any 18+ year old Kenyan, vote. I voted for leaders who I believed in, or rather who I thought would do this nation right.Luckily, 9 of the 10 I voted for were successfully elected to serve the great Kenyan nation from the wards upwards. I however still for my PK who was successfully elected as the President of Facebook.(A joke for another day). I remember I saw women as old as 90 years queue to vote for H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta (I know because I helped one vote), and after a tasking election period Uhuru became the President of KENYA. Two and half years down the line, I feel for him as a President, but I feel more for that woman who loves that man deep

September 7

Will the Prime.Photo/Mosgajaz This is a normal day for everyone, you wake up, smile, check your Whatsapp messages and reply, then off to the shower. After that you then pack a bad of your usual stuff; a charger, earphones, notebook, pens, a camera and the water bottle that is making headlines. Knowing you will not use that bag for the day. That is a fast-forward from September 3.This hot afternoon I am sitted at the Jobless corner with one of my uncles (people who know my shagz know where this is) and we busy chatting the normal issues men talk about. Then the pertinent issue pops and we delve into it. An hour later I grow the balls and decide that that call is way overdue and its the time we make or break. Me: Hi how are you? Prime: Hi William how are you? Me: I am alright and how about you? Prime: I am easy no worries. Me: Am glad, now, we need to hook up soonest we can, its not that glittering on this end. Me: Alright cheers.(hangs up) After am d

Sorry, it wasn't me

Cutest twins.Photo/Courtesy Its rare for a man to read and then write what he read, crap am just playing around with words here. It has been a minute and I felt that recent happenings need to be penned. One year-plus ago like the man I am, I dated one of the most beautiful ladies I have met int his side of the Sahara. She was graceful, humble. Generous, beautiful as expected and most importantly she had a great heart. However things stopped being all rosy because of something we cannot write home about-i still cannot understand the reason why hearts stop moving. Anyway it has taken me ages and now that steel has overcome hair, its right I state these reasons, and in the process say am not trying to win a fight i lost. Men find the word sorry a very hard noun to use, even when its for their own good. However hen one 'grows up' they can see the essence of an apology (to make peace) because its all in long and short terms for the good of everybody. So here a

AUGUST 28, 2015 Break or Make

The PrimeTimePlayer.Photo/Mosgajaz This photo was taken exactly one year, two months and ten days ago.It shows many things that very few people have ever seen in me.(Ignore my mug) In that person there is a spirit of resilience, struggle, pain, love, happiness, bitterness, peace anger, anxiety and most of all, a smile on the face for the world. 2 decades+, a boy was born full of life and ready to face this world of realities. The celebrations later became reality of raising a prime being. Years down the line, I am this young man who has gone through most of what his peers only read on blogs and in Jeffrey Archer novels. I would say so much but on this step in life, I can only give thanks to God, my family, friends, acquaintances, frenemies and colleagues. After God I solely thank my family for this far, I have done so much with their help and am sure with the new year in my small world, the world will open more doors for me, and them. My bosses and colleagues have also do

Why we men must join the Beard gang

Image
Photo of a man with a large beard.Photo/Courtesy   Recent times have witnessed social media pages with men sowing off beards of all kinds. This is the reason that made me more curious about the reason why a man would have a beard and true to my word, it’s a trend that most men, especially in urban areas is catching up with. A talk to several ladies proved that beards are a thing that most ladies love seeing on men. Sylvia , a colleague confesses to me that she has loved a beard from her childhood days when her dad donned one and she now cannot date a man who has a clean chin, its just not her thing as she puts it. While growing up, i knew beards were a preserve for chosen few; old men, the Sikhs and a few politicians who used it as a trade mark. But this has changed and young men, including myself, are struggling to grow a beard. I know of a friend who does not relate well with men who have clean chins. Several   reasons are attributed to reasons why people are war

Words in my heart

Image
Words are the prime expressions Ways that help us open up Some are strong to bend one’s mind then again some are wrong Add caption Sounding so sweet to others They are one a man’s great escape A way to throw words to the air Fighting tool for intellects Words can hide the truth, Words can strike the heart And building the strongest of walls Words are more than missiles, That can make one just die; They are locks that cannot be closed That after we speak the words, We fall under their control Words are prime tools

Balancing between studies and social life in Universities

Image
Photo./Courtesy By now most Kenyans who sat KCSE last year already if they are proceeding to the University, Tertiary college or seeking alternatives in other areas depending on grades. For those joining colleges and universities, there's a whole new life ahead. There's the registration, getting used to big buildings, especially if one is from rural areas, and making new friends. The harder part is settling down and balancing between school work and the “free” social life. Presented with this freedom, it can be very overwhelming; especially if you lack self-discipline. Had someone come to me at the beginning of my first year and imparted to me this knowledge, he or she could have saved me a lot of time, headache and guilt over how I spent my days in campus. And so this is what I learnt over the years. 1. Make priorities If you have a class in the morning, prioritize on that.  Get some good rest and also ensure you have your books and notes ready so

Garissa University Attack, My heart

Image
“We don’t remember days, we remember moments”….Cesare Pavese said this in his time while reflecting on eventualities of life. In the past few days since the Garissa attack I have been silent from posting any information or opinion on the issue for one reason, to read what the world has to say on the issue. Nothing is as stressful for a young, ambitious person as the process of enrolling for a university programme, having in mind that most students have to re-locate from their homes to new places. This was the case for about 85% of students at the now closed Garissa University. 152 of the students are no more, the biggest tragedy Kenya has experienced from a terror attack. Security has been and is the major challenge that we as Kenyans face yet little or no effort has been put to change this sad fact. After the Westgate attack on September 21, 2013 Kenyans were shaken but quickly rose to their feet and life went back to the ‘usual’. Families lost their loved ones, chi

Why you can consider joining NYS in your "gap year"

Image
President Uhuru Kenyatta greets National Youth Service recruits after a parade at the NYS college in Gilgil on September 10, 2014.Photo, courtesy After watching 'Boy Meets World', a television series that chronicles the life of friends from middle school days to their marriage life, one thing kept ringing in my mind is how most men make mistakes in the gap between completion of high school and the "start of life" as most people call the transition. In the current set up, once a young man aged 17 or 18 completes high school, there is always gap of about one year before they can join college or college or university. With so much time on your hands, some try the few things they were always warned against. There others who form groups with their peers and spend days roaming in the neighbourhood and, eventually, try a few things like drugs and alcohol. Others take opportunity to try relationships with the opposite sex as this was banned while in school. But
